'Total Recall' trailer: 2012 reboot stars Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel (Video)

Colin Farrell takes over Arnold Schwarzenegger's old role and breaks out the big guns in a 2012 reboot of "Total Recall," whose trailer has been released online.

The original science fiction movie was released in 1990 and starred Schwarzenegger as Doug Quaid, a factory worker who suspects his memories may have been implanted and that he is actually a spy. He then finds himself a wanted man.

In the new film, he teams up with sexy freedom fighter Melinda, played by Jessica Biel. They set off to try and change the political system in their country, which is controlled by a fascist president, portrayed by Bryan Cranston. Kate Beckinsale takes on Sharon Stone's old role as Lori, Quaid's wife, who may not be who she seems.

While the 1990 movie is largely set on Mars, the new one takes place in the nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai.

Biel's character spars with Beckinsale's in the film.

"Our fight scene isn't overtly sexy," Biel told W magazine in an interview published in its April 2012 issue. "Just two trained fighters who happen to be women kicking the [expletive] out of each other. It could be two dudes, but we just happened to have long hair and boobs and ... other things."

"Kate and I usually! fight m en in movies, and when you knock into a man, he doesn't care," she added. "But every two seconds, Kate and I were saying, 'I'm so sorry - are you okay?' We were both so nervous about fighting another woman. Which is strange, because I have no problem fighting with a guy. In truth, I like doing anything that requires breaking a sweat."

Biel told OnTheRedCarpet.com at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2011 that they were not trying to "recreate" the original "Total Recall" movie.

"That's classic filmmaking and classic performances," she said. "You don't touch it. You've got to do something fresh and new and if people don't like it, oh well, at least you tried."

The film is set to be released on August 3 and also stars John Cho and Ethan Hawke.
