Jessica Biel Will Pretend a Doll Is Her Daughter in 'Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes'

Jessica BielImagine Lars and the Real Girl, only darker...somehow. That's what we're getting in Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes, which has just cast Jessica Biel as one of its starring players. Biel joins young Kaya Scodelario (Skins, Moon, Clash of the Titans) in the twisted, psychologically strangling new feature from writer/director Francesca Gregorini (Tanner Hall).

The film follows the titular Emanuel, a seventeen year-old girl with a hefty some of emotional problems, who develops a fascination with her neighbor Linda, due to Linda's striking resemblance to Emanuel's deceased mother. But wait: it gets darker. Linda hires Emanuel to babysit her young daughter, who turns out actually to be a doll. See, Linda's got her own assortment of troubles, and is dealing with the death of her own young daughter by pretending that she is still alivebasically, don't see this if you're already feeling particularly fragile.

Scodelario is playing Emanuel, and Biel is now being cast as Linda. The Girlwith the Dragon Tattoo starRooney Mara was formerly attached to the project as Emanuel, but opted out due to feeling that she was too old to play the part. Mara should get a few Classy Points for thisalthough it's a disappointment to hear about her leaving any project, the actually seventeen year-old Scodelario is a promising player as well. And as for Biel? Well, that's just the icing on the cake. The chilling, emotionally! demente d cake.
