Jessica Biel Convinced Bradley Cooper To Take Silver Linings Playbook Role

It took some convincing from Jessica Biel for Bradley Cooper to take a chance on the most offbeat role of his career so far - a bipolar teacher in 'The Silver Linings Playbook'.

'The Hangover' star is famed for comedy roles, but decided to take a stab at serious acting in for his latest venture. He admitted that before he took the plunge, he sought the advice of his 'The A Team' co-star Jessica Biel.

Biel, who recently wed Justin Timberlake, was quick to tell him he simply had to work with renowned director David O'Russell. Now tipped for success during the upcoming Hollywood awards season, we bet he's pretty grateful!

Cooper admits he was initially unsure whether to take the job, so he asked his friend Biel for her opinion knowing she had worked with the director on stalled film project 'Nailed', which has never been released.

He told Deadline.com, "The reputation that preceded him for me was stellar. I spoke to Jessica Biel, who I'd been on The A-Team with, and I said, 'You know, I think I might do this David O'Russell movie,' and she said, 'Run. Don't walk to that.'

"She did a movie that never even came out with him, actually, and she loved him."

Biel started work on Nailed, about a woman fighting for better healthcare after being shot in the head with a nail gun, in 2008 but the project was halted due to numerous production problems. We're glad Silver Linings Playbook had better luck - can't wait to see if this will get Bradley his first gong...

Meanwhile, he's lost his 'World's Sexiest Man' title... but we still love him!
